20 Personal SL Questions Meme

I like all the different memes by Strawberry Singh. (is memes the plural for meme? hope so) I wish I could make them all but mostly I am stuck in Blender or Photoshop.

1. When and how did you discover Second Life?
It was in May 2007, I was working as webdesigner and a customer was interesting if it would be a good idea for him to advertise in a virtual world. So I made an account and logged in.

2. Did you know about virtual worlds before or was this your first experience with them?
I never heard of it before. I never was a gamer.

3. Has Second Life met your expectations?
I had no expectations back then, but I would say also if I did not had any SL was more than I thought, otherwise I would not have stayed.

4. If you could teleport back to the first ten minutes of your avatar’s slife, what would you tell yourself?
Clean and sort your inventory from the first day! Because it is so hard (not even possible) to do so when it's 80-90k.

5. How long did it take you to master avatar flying and driving vehicles inworld?
I figured out flying in the first minutes by accident. Last time I drove a vehicle I crashed into a wall, so I guess I still not mastered that.

6. Do you have a mystery alt?
I have Sidney (not mystery), my man for blogging and such and another one I used in the past to test things but I haven't logged her in since years

7. Is your SL avatar a reflection of you, or someone you wished you could be?
Pretty much me. Less funny, cause I am humorous in RL (what people around me say) but the language barrier makes it hard to be sarcastic and joking.
And well, the shape in RL it changed over the years and it's not so easy to change it back.

8. Is there an individual you met in SL that inspired you in your RL? How?
There are so many creative and talented people in SL. People who encouraged and inspired me in so many different ways. Building, starting with Mesh, be more confident to speak english.

9. Do you feel it is easier to create stronger bonds/relationships with people you meet inworld as opposed to the real world?
I don't think it is easier. Maybe it is the language barrier, also I think I am virtual more shy. OK this maybe sounds weird but I feel better to talk to people when I see their eyes or hear their voice.

10. Did you ever imagine or believe people could fall in love with someone they never met before Second Life?
Absolutely yes! (still waiting for it to happen to me ;) )

11. How has your perspective of dating changed (or not) since you started playing second life?
I am not dating :(

12. How has your perspective of employment changed (or not) since you started playing second life?
I was self employed before and I am now, what changed is that now I really do what I love!

13. Name three things in both your lives that overlap each other significantly.
Creativity,  work and friends

14. If you could live your life more immersively in a virtual world, would you?
A little bit maybe but I would not like to live only (or mostly) a virtual life.

15. How do you think behavior changes for people if they’re inworld vs in real world? Why do you think that is?
I think people are as they are. I don't think they can pretend all the time but I think they show their real face faster because of the anonymity.

16. How has second life consumerism changed your perception of spending habits, the value of money, the need to be “bleeding edge” with fashion?
I am not materialistic and also not a huge shopper in RL or SL. I do shop more in SL especially when I am in a bad mood and need a little cheer up.

17. Do you think virtual worlds like SL drive and redefine human interaction or do they narrow and limit it?
I think virtual world as other online communities help us to better understand other cultures and to bring different people together. I think the world is closer together.

18. If technology progressed tomorrow to allow you to send emotions to people the way you’d send text or voice messages, would it enrich your SL experience or infringe on it?
I don't socialise much in SL. It would be nice to hug my SL sister, but it would be very weird and (I don't want to think more about it) to add adult animations to furniture if you really feel the virtual actions.

19. Name three skills you attribute to having learned or honed in second life alone.
English - before SL I was able to say my name and ask how are you. (I remember when I got my first land rented. I said to the landlord: "I want leasing land here".) I think that improved a little.
Modelling - still learning Blender but I think I'm on a good way.
Time management - still fighting with it sometimes but I get better.

20. If your grand kids googled your Second Life Avatar’s name, would they be intrigued, disgusted, proud or something else?
Unfortunately, I'll never have grandchildren, but If I had, maybe intrigued, like kids today when they see a cassette tape or a record player.

Amazing you learned English so well here! And yes, memes is the correct plural. The picture is so serene and beautiful. Thank you for sharing. <3
